The activity tonight at our 4-H meeting was pumpkin pie in a bag. The kids lined up on one side of the table and the parents on the other. Each of the kids got one ingredient and the parents each had a bag. I think there were four bags that were used.
The parents went down the line with their bag open and each of the kids put in whatever their ingredient was. When everything was in except the graham crackers and whipped topping, the bags were smooshed for a few minutes.
The graham crackers were spooned into each cup, the pumpkin filling squeezed into the cups and then garnished with whipped topping. They were very good, as one parent put it "they taste a lot better than they look". Here is the recipe.
Pumpkin Pie in a Bag
quart size zipper type freezer bag
2/3 cup cold milk
1/2 package (4 serving size) instant vanilla pudding mix
1/2 cup (about 1/4 of 15 ounce can of solid pack pumpkin)
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
graham cracker crumbs or Vanilla Wafers
whipped topping
Add milk and vanilla pudding mix to the bag; close bag and squeeze and knead with hands for 1 minute until blended. Add pumpkin, cinnamon and ginger; close bag and squeeze and knead with hands for 2 minutes until blended. Fill the bottoms of cups with crumbs. Cut a corner of the freezer bag and squeeze contents equally into each container. Garnish with whipped topping.
