Ear and a Half, that is the name of this rabbit. Original, I know. When this guy was born, one of the other rabbits ate part of his ear. Yes, they do that and yes, it is rather icky. Thankfully, whoever did this stopped at just half an ear! After breeding rabbits for a few years all of a sudden we had a long haired girl show up in one of the litters.
Must have been a very recessive gene to take that long to finally come out. The mother (Dawn), who is totally black with short hair, for the last two years has had one baby with long hair. The first year she had Breena, who has short haired babies. Then this year she had Ear and a Half. Because Ear and a Half is a long haired, niced sized buck we will keep him to breed with a long haired girl next year with the hopes of getting an entire litter of long haired babies.
He kind of reminds me of a chocolate Easter bunny! Maybe that's why the other rabbit stopped chewing on him. He realized Ear and a Half was not made of chocolate. ;o)
