Fires In A Survival Situation

In co-op this week we talked about building fires in survival situations.  No boys, you will not have a can of gasoline with you so you need to listen up.  The kids practiced making four different kinds of fires and we talked about how to start them and keep them going.

Since we were in one of the families drive way we made our fire to make lunch in a fire pit.

The kids made potatoes and apples to bake in tin foil.   They also roasted hot dogs and found out that it is impossible to roast Oreos without the middle melting and falling into the fire unless you barely heat them up.  It is good to have this important Oreo knowledge, never know when it might come in handy.
